People wonder how it’s possible to plan and run a party without any negatives during the event.  Most don’t realize that even during the most wonderful party thinks can go wrong.  The key is to stay calm, apply some thought to whatever is happening, take care of it and most guests will never know there was an issue.

Don’t let your guests know if there is a problem emerging, the host or hostess can take care of it and a guest will be happy with their ignorance of the situation.  Extra snacks and liquids are always essential to have on hand in case the preparation is not acceptable, more people show up than planned or if someone mistakenly drops or spills an ingredient or a whole dish.  Have a plan where everything will be placed, make sure all equipment to be used has been tested before everyone arrives.

Ideally the host or hostess is able to provide all necessary items because if assignments are made to other guests they may forget.  This can cause a problem at party time so be sure to do any request for loaned items far in advance of the party.  It is better if all items needed are on hand prior to the event.

Party menu’s can be planned so there is more preparation done prior to the party time instead of waiting to the last minute.  Many food processes can be accomplished days ahead and then put in the refrigerator.  There are always last minute tasks to do and if there is extra help many of those tasks can be assigned.  If possible, food and drink should always be available for guests to serve themselves, this way the host or hostess can enjoy their party also.

There will always be problems arising during a big event but as long as no one knows about it, the event is still considered a success.
