Party planning is fraught with possible misadventures not visible until the event is taking place. Misfortunes may arise while everyone is having a good time, many guests will not even notice. In this instance cooler heads will process and recover to enjoy the perfect party. Don’t let your guests know if there is a problem emerging, the host or hostess can take care of it and a guest will be happy with their ignorance of the situation.

Extra snacks and liquids are always essential to have on hand in case the preparation is not acceptable, more people show up than planned or if someone mistakenly drops or spills an ingredient or a whole dish. Have a plan where everything will be placed, make sure all equipment to be used has been tested before everyone arrives.

Borrowing dishes, devices, etc for the party should be done as soon as possible so those items are there the day of the party. If someone else is supposed to bring ice or something similar they may forget it so have those items on your own. Make plans so that all the setup is done early.

Party menu’s can be planned so there is more preparation done prior to the party time instead of waiting to the last minute. Many food processes can be accomplished days ahead and then put in the refrigerator. There are always last minute tasks to do and if there is extra help many of those tasks can be assigned. If possible, food and drink should always be available for guests to serve themselves, this way the host or hostess can enjoy their party also.

Finally remember, that it is not about throwing a party without problems, but about making it seem as if it is flawless, even when it is not.
